Mushroom cheeseburger

mushroom burger

This burger was inspired by the Shake Shack. This was my version of their Shack stack.

Ingredients (for about 4 burgers):
1 cup of ground turkey meat
1 cup of ground beef
4 portabella mushroom caps
2 eggs
2 tbsp olive oil
1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp basil
1 tsp paprika
1/2 clove of minced garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
Cheese of choice
5 tbsp bread crumbs
Burger buns

Instructions:
1. In a large bowl mix together ground beef, turkey, 1 egg, olive oil, cilantro, onion powder, basil, paprika. minced garlic and salt and pepper. Allow to marinate at room temperature for 30-40 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator
2. Preheat oven to 350
3. Wash mushroom caps and pat dry
4. In a small bowl crack 1 egg and mix it up
5. Dip each mushroom into the egg and then coat with bread crumbs on both sides
6. Use your hands to form patties from meat mix (they should be about 4 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick) and place patties into a large baking dish
7. Along side the burger patties place the breaded mushrooms (or use a separate baking dish)
8. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes
9. Place on burger bun with cheese, garnish of choice and enjoy!
